WORK

I studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam where I developed an interest in digital art tools, then still in their infancy.

 

Fascinated by the ability to transform and deconstruct sound through software, I released several ambient electronic albums via record label Databloem in the early 2000s.

 

Instead of eliminating noise, artifacts and audible glitches, I considered these 'errors' to be beautiful sonic elements and actively integrated them into my compositions. I still use the same mindset in my current works, which combine traditional techniques such as oil and acrylic painting, marker drawings, collage elements and my own poetry, with digital techniques.

 

By scanning paintings and drawings and manipulating them through software, the artworks become amalgams of tradition and experimentation.
